May 30, 2021 Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, Ohio:
The band is proud to have once again been asked to be part of the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Green Summit Cemetery west of Adelphi, Ohio.
Many of our past and present musicians are veterans. And certainly we all have family members and friends who are veterans, as well.
The ceremony is well attended by the community, and the name of every veteran buried there is read aloud. The backdrop for the ceremony with the flags against the sky, is stirring, as is the ceremony itself.

May 31, 2021 Hallsville, Ohio Memorial Day Observance:
i
The Adelphi Community Band has a long history of participating in the Hallsville Memorial Day Observance.
I can personally attest to participating since 1967, and we have a picture of the Band playing in front of one of the Hallsville churches (there used to be two) and another of the band and "walkers" marching to the Hallsville cemetery, with both pictures believed to be from @ 1950.
In talking with the organizer of today's Observance, it was said that it just wouldn't be Memorial Day for The Adelphi Community Band if it wasn't in Hallsville for Memorial Day. The band is proud to continue to be a part of this event.

May and June 2021:
The Evolution of Our Band Trailer
After the band's forced layoff in 2020 due to our usual performance events cancelling because of the virus, when we pulled our band trailer out of the barn in May 2021 in order to get ready to start the year we noticed that we needed to do some upgrades to it.
Time has certainly flown, and it is hard to believe that the band has been using this trailer for parades and related events since the mid-1980's !
And for all of the musicians whose feet are just as old as the rest of their bodies, I am safe in saying that we have ALL appreciated the use of the trailer as opposed to marching! In fact, since the 80's we have been the envy of pretty much every marching unit who would line up beside us while we were getting ready to start a parade!
Once we decided to go ahead with the renovations, and because of the short time frame before our first scheduled parade, the repair shop worked with us in order to have the important work done first so that we could use it for the parade. Then after that event we took it back to the shop so that the renovations scheduled for Phase 2 could be completed.
It also looks like there will be a Phase 3, which will include some of the musicians doing some finish painting on the trailer.
The end results of this project will include:
The musicians have been excited to be able to see the renovations and upgrades, so we thought we would share them with you, too.

The end results of this project will include:
- All new, white, metal railings,
- All new, white, metal vertical supports for the railings,
- Metal floor placed in the rear of the trailer to repalce a wooden section,
- New trailer jack,
- New handholds for entering or leaving the trailer,
- New wiring harness,
- Replacement tires as needed.
The musicians have been excited to be able to see the renovations and upgrades, so we thought we would share them with you, too.

June 12, 2021 Laurelville Fireman's Old Time Festival:
The Band Recognizes One of Its Own:
While at the Laurelville (Ohio) Fireman's Old Time Festival on Saturday June 12, 2021, the Adelphi Community Band took time out with the crowd to recognize one of its own.
Glenn Hinton, Snare Drum and also Business Manager, has been a true representative of the comfortable, family oriented, atmosphere of the band that musicians have enjoyed for over 141 years.
- At least one brother has played in the band,
- His Uncle played Bass Drum in the band and was also Business Manager for many years,
- His Father played Trombone in the band and also Directed for many years,
- and probably a few more family members also played in the band that I'll remember only after I close this page.
Unfortunately, Glenn is having to step down now from some of the responsibilities of helping to run the band.
Laurelville is just a couple miles or so from Adelphi, and so the band wanted to take this opportunity during their concert there to recognize Glenn in front of basically a home town crowd for all his work for the band over the years.
"How many years", do I hear you ask?
Well, the numbers are a bit fuzzy after all this time, but the best calculation we can all make based on Glenn's information is that Glenn Hinton has played in the Adelphi Community Band for almost 75 years!
That's right, Glenn Hinton has played in the band for almost 75 years!
While we won't tell secrets, that obviously means that Glenn is older than 75.
What a remarkable record!

Sunday July 4, 2021, Ashville 4th of July Parade:
This was pretty much the official roll out of the band trailer after getting all the needed repair work done....and the paint to finally dry....But those details aren't important, now. . It is a great trailer which has served us well since the mid-1980's.

7-24-2021 Lancaster Festival, Festival Fair Day at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds:
The band has been very fortunate to have been a part of the Festival Fair day at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds for the Lancaster Festival for many years. It is always a great time, and we get to hear some really neat bands either before us, or after us, and this year was no exception.
Plus, it is hard to beat listening to band concerts while sitting in the shade of the tall trees at the fairgrounds. And both the weather and the air temperature today were great!

8-8-2021: Ross County Fair Harness Races
I won't lie.
It was hot and humid.
But, man, did it feel good to be back at the Ross County Fair!
With the exception of 2020, the band has been with the fair since it's start, and was recognized for that fact in 1994 at the 50th anniversary of the Fair.
